myLot Discussions on Advantage Flea Control
Advantage Flea Product-Do You Think It's Safe?
I would appreciate any advice on this matter. About a week ago, I bought some Advantage Flea product to put on my cat. I have used it on him before, about a year ago. He had no problems with it at that time. This past week, I put some on him and since then, he has had diarrhea every day. I'm really concerned that I've put something toxic on him and I don't know what a vet could do anyway. I don't have the money to take him to the vet, so I'm wondering if there's some natural way to detoxify him. I feel so bad that I may have inadvertantly poisoned my kitty, when all I was doing was try to get rid of fleas.
Advantage Flea medicine for dogs
Has anyone had any negative side effects from this? My dogs breath smelled like chemicals after an application of Advantage!
Itchy dog but no fleas
Before I spend the money to take my dog to the vet I thought I'd see if anyone here has had any similar experiences or suggestions. I have a yorkie mix and, for the past couple of months, she's had an itchy back and hind quarters. Since she's fat it's hard for her to reach some of these spots so she rolls on the floor but she also scratches and bites. I regularly use Advantage flea treatment on her and bathe her every Saturday with a special shampoo for sensative skin. I don't see any evidence of fleas or anything else after draining the water out of the tub so I don't think she's infested with anything. She also doesn't have any redness on her skin, hot spots or evidence of ant bites (we live in Florida) so I have no idea what her problem is. Could it be allergies? I let her go outside and she walks, rolls and sits on the grass. She also likes to sniff around under our vehicles and, when I bathed her last night because she seemed so uncomfortable, she was pretty dirty already. Is the gunk underneath a truck an irritant? Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Flea prevention -- kitty's mad at me!
I just put some Advantage flea repellent on my cat, and she is none too happy with me. She made an unhappy face, squinted her eyes, and laid her ears flat back on her head at me. I think she was surprised at the cold liquid between her shoulders, but it's for her own good! She's actually allergic to flea saliva and takes a long time to heal from bites. Sigh...it's hard to do something to your pet that you know they hate but it's worth it for their health. This picture isn't from today, btw:P
