| | I saw a funny thing yesterday... | | ... as I popped out at lunchtime to get a sandwich, I passed a guy asleep in one of the doorways of the local cinema hall. He had a begging bowl next to him which contained a handful of coins. What is so unusual about that you might ask and why did I say it was funny in my discussion heading? Poor people begging on the streets is not something nice people laugh about. Before I get hung out to dry for being mean, let me finish the story. The guy was fairly clean shaven wearing a smart winter sheepskin coat, he had a lovely alsation dog beside him, who wagged his tail in a friendly manner as I walked past and in the guy's hand was a half empty bottle of EXPENSIVE CHAMPAGNE. The bottle was Dom Perignon and I know for a fact that this stuff retails at at least £90-100 if not double that! I chuckled to myself as I walked past that some people had actually thrown copper and silver coins into his bowl and started to wonder why the guy was there... Maybe he was out drinking so late he was too scared to go home and face the missus so he slept on the street. | The Black Russian Terrier | | My mom has been contemplating getting a new breed since her Bouvier passed on in December and she's been toying with the idea of getting a Black Russian Terrier since she needs a dog with guard instincts and she likes how similar in appearance they are to Bouviers. They are however, a rare breed, and they won't actually gain recognition with the Canadian Kennel Club until July, so she'll have to wait until after then before she gets a show puppy.

The Black Russian Terrier (or simply BRT) is a breed of dog developed originally as a guard dog and police dog. It is rare outside its native country and is just starting to be recognized elsewhere; for example, it is one of the AKC's most-recently recognized breeds, gaining full status in July of 2004.
The BRT was developed in the former USSR by the state for use as a military/working dogs. The breeding stock was largely imported from the occupied countries, especially East Germany. Breeds used in the development include the Airedale Terrier, Caucasian Ovcharka, Rottweiler, Newfoundland, Giant and Standard Schnauzers and the now extinct Moscow Water Dog.... | |
| | Faithful Dog Guards Injured Owner! | | I thought I would share this wonderful story with all your dog lovers.
" A faithful dog stood guard over it's owner after she was hit by a casr and critically injured in Sydney.
The 41 year old woman was hit whilst walking her dog in the city's northwest.
The driver stopped to help the woman, but the dog growled and stood guard over it's owner.
Paramedics were not able to treat the woman until police arrived and managed to lure the faithful dog away.
The woman is in a critical condition in hospital." | |

Some of u may recall i have had my sons dog's in my yard for about 6 months while they were having a house built.Yesterday he moved them to the new house,WOOHOO!!!! | composting dog waste | | My daughter's b/f has a compost bin, but she says he just throws whatever he wants in it. Since they are going to start a garden, she wanted to know what can be composted, so I told her what I compost and then proceeded to look for most info online..I found this site that has a long list of things you can compost, but what got my attention is a link at the bottom of this list about composting dog waste.[em]shocked[/em]I never heard of this, and was even told not to compost dog waste. But this isn't for your "garden compost", this is for those who live in the city where, "Garbage collectors don't want dog waste to go into the truck because it gets messy and the bags explode. The sewage people don't want it down the toilet because it has a lot of grit on it and mucks it up. So there's really nothing environmental that you can do."This got my attention, garbage bags explode if they have dog waste in them? Because that is what I do..Though I am not in the city, I hate to think that an exploding garbage bag is due to my throwing away my dog dirt..So I may consider this, since there are some spots in my yard where I can do this. | | Online Dog Adoption Scams! | | How many times have I encountered scam pet adoption sites in the internet? Well a dozen times already. They say it's for free then starts charging ridiculously high adoption fees! Usually these people are from Africa ( I am not trying to discriminate anyone but this has been my personal experience and so with the emails). I am just so fed up wit these scammers. I just encountered one scam ad on our local online advertisement page and she posed to be a nun and dragging the name of the Lord into her monkey business. I told her to stop doing that and told her that I know it's a hoax.She stopped emailing me.Have you encountered this kind of scam before? What did you do? By the way I reported the issue to the site admin and have her banned. | |
