myLot Discussions on Dog Signs
People CAN be great!
I try to avoid reading or watching the news because more often than not, it's a "sad but true" story. People can be cruel to each other, to animals, and to the planet in ways no other species are. So when my dog went missing, I thought the worst. We had "Missing Dog" signs around the neighborhood, spread the word we were looking for her, put an ad on Craigslist, etc to find her. I'm not one to depend on the kindness of strangers, but then four days, three nights after she disappeared a nice man returned her! He wanted no reward (though it was offered), he was just happy to do a good deed. I was impressed. Good people DO exist! So I'm happy to report, at least for now, my faith in the human race has been restored. Though not completely, enough to feel that our humanity isn't completely extinct!Have you done a good deed lately? Or has someone done something for you? Please share! Thanks!
Here I go about our neighbors again.. UGH!
Our yards are pretty close together in a neighborhood Last Sunday they had a big party in their yard. Now our dog Rebel is very protective and being part Dalmation and Lab he is a runner. He ran away so much when he was a pup and got put in the doggie jail a few times and had to bail him out with cash that we finally came to the conclusion that it was time to get a shock collar. This way he can't go past the electric barrier of our yard.Well as the neighbors party was going on two toy airplanes of the kids came flying into our yard. This kid about 15 years old came running into our yard to fetch the toys. As soon as he did Reble charged at him. The kid took off running and screaming as Rebel chased him.I immediately went out to the back yard to see if the kid had gotten bit by Rebel cus the kid was screaming as he ran. As soon as the kid saw me he yelled "put a leash on that dog!" I said "he's got a shock collar!!! Then the kids' father piped in saying that we should have Beware of dog signs up...and that Connecticut law states if you don't have beware of dog signs up and your dog bites someone then you are liable.... I said "NO and that the kid should of asked me to...
Have you Ever Found a Lost Pet and been able to reunite it with it's Owner?
Have you ever found a lost pet that belonged to someone else and were you successful in reuniting it with it's owner?A lot of hunters 'lose' their hunting dogs around where I live, and I've been able to reunite many of them with their owners, thanks to their dog tags. There have been some that I haven't been able to find owners.Several years ago, I was visiting in a hospital, when I heard a commotion and looked up to see Security Guards chasing a young yellow Lab through the hospital. They succeeded in catching him, and threw him outside (to my horror, as there was a busy highway outside.) I went out and talked to him (the Lab) and he followed me to my car and hopped into the front seat. I took him home. He had no Identification.I drove through the hospital neighborhood for a couple of weeks, looking for "Lost Dog" signs, but never saw any. I kept him for a few weeks, then gave him to my brother, who lived several states away. About three months later, I was driving through that neighborhood again, and I saw a "Lost Dog" sign with a photo of the yellow Lab I had. I talked with my brother about the situation, and he was in agreement with my opinion that we reunite...
