myLot Discussions on Frontline Flea Treatment
OH NO!...Say It Ain't So!
I had to take my poor little MoMo to the vet last week. He has a horrible itching problem. His little body was covered in open, oozing sores. He would just claw and bite at himself till he drove us all mad. It never let up. I bathed him, doctored the sores, and applied flea spray, used hot spot medication.... over and over again. I finally had to take him in to the vet. I knew it had to be something more than just fleas, the other dogs didn't have this problem. And I wasn't overly bothered by fleas as I usually am when they are bad (they eat on me just like the dogs or worse!). I wasn't quite prepared for the diagnosis... HE"S ALLERGIC TO FLEAS! How awful for a poor little dog. How can this be? He had to have a steroid shot and was put on antibiotics. I have to put Triple Antibiotic ointment on his sores and of course I got the Frontline Flea drops. He takes his pill every day in a spoon full of ice cream (he loves ice cream). The vet said he didn't see any fleas on him at the time so it's not a case of uncontroled fleas. But whatever fleas may be there are enough to cause this horrible reaction. Have you ever had this problem? How do you...
My cat's flea medicine is no longer working!
What should I do? I give our cat Frontline flea medicine every month. He first got fleas about a year ago when my husband's family brought their dogs to our house. The Frontline seemed to keep the fleas under control up until a couple of months ago. Since applying it this past month, I can't tell that it's helped anything! I've actually had live fleas jump ON ME! It's so gross! We had our regular pest control guy come and spray two weeks ago, but I can't tell that there's any reduction in fleas? Can fleas become accustomed to the same flea treatment? Is there a brand that works better? HOW CAN I GET RID OF THESE FLEAS?!
Dogs and fleas
I have 4 dogs and I have been using the Frontline flea control for them. Lately it hasn't been working as well. The vet's office said that's getting to be a common problem. Plus its really expensive. I know that feeding dogs garlic will help keep away the fleas. Is there any other inexpensive home remedies for flea control? My dogs are in the house except to go out to the bathroom and sometimes they play awhile out there. I don't have carpet so I don't have to worry about it getting in the carpet.
cats with worms
Hi Both my cats are regularly wormed and given frontline flea spot on. I have never had a problem with fleas but one of my cats seems to have worms. Have treated her a week ago but they still seem to be there. Any advice would be good before spending out on a vet bill to clear.
