| OH NO!...Say It Ain't So! | | I had to take my poor little MoMo to the vet last week. He has a horrible itching problem. His little body was covered in open, oozing sores. He would just claw and bite at himself till he drove us all mad. It never let up. I bathed him, doctored the sores, and applied flea spray, used hot spot medication.... over and over again. I finally had to take him in to the vet. I knew it had to be something more than just fleas, the other dogs didn't have this problem. And I wasn't overly bothered by fleas as I usually am when they are bad (they eat on me just like the dogs or worse!). I wasn't quite prepared for the diagnosis... HE"S ALLERGIC TO FLEAS! How awful for a poor little dog. How can this be? He had to have a steroid shot and was put on antibiotics. I have to put Triple Antibiotic ointment on his sores and of course I got the Frontline Flea drops. He takes his pill every day in a spoon full of ice cream (he loves ice cream).
The vet said he didn't see any fleas on him at the time so it's not a case of uncontroled fleas. But whatever fleas may be there are enough to cause this horrible reaction.
Have you ever had this problem? How do you... | |
| | My cat's flea medicine is no longer working! | | What should I do? I give our cat Frontline flea medicine every month. He first got fleas about a year ago when my husband's family brought their dogs to our house. The Frontline seemed to keep the fleas under control up until a couple of months ago. Since applying it this past month, I can't tell that it's helped anything! I've actually had live fleas jump ON ME! It's so gross! We had our regular pest control guy come and spray two weeks ago, but I can't tell that there's any reduction in fleas? Can fleas become accustomed to the same flea treatment? Is there a brand that works better? HOW CAN I GET RID OF THESE FLEAS?! | |
