myLot Discussions on Mighty Dog Dog Food
Is cat food bad for dogs?
I used to feed my small dog Mighty Dog but she's gotten to where she won't finish a can and I usually end up having to throw the leftovers out. They don't make dog food in really small cans so I bought a few cans of Fancy Feast cat food and she eats them because its really small portions. Is it bad for her? I heard somewhere it is, but she seems to love it and hasn't been sick or anything because of it.
how to win with a stubborn dog
my lhasa maltese has to be the most stubborn dog in the neighborhood. once she is set on something there is no changing her mind. she has recently decided that she doesn't want to do her business in our yard. so if i won't take her for a walk around the neighborhood she pulls out of her collar and runs like mighty dog. i have had to chase her over a mile before catching. while she thinks it's cute it just makes me want to make a trip to the humane society. she is three and i have had her since she was 2 mos so it's not like she's a puppy anymore. would love to hear from you other dog lovers

Pet Food Industry Dirty Secrets. Are you still paying for pet’s food?
-Iams/Eukanuba canned foods are not made by The Iams Company at all. In fact, in 2003 Iams signed an exclusive 10-year contract for the production of 100% of its canned foods by Menu.-Another unpleasant practice exposed by last recall is pet food testing on live animals. Menu's own lab animals, who were deliberately fed the tainted food, were the first known victims. Tests began on February 27 (already a week after the first reports); animals started to die painfully from kidney failure a few days later.HISTORY of pet food recalls:-In 1995, Nature’s Recipe recalled almost a million pounds of dry dog and cat food The problem was a fungus that produced vomitoxin contaminating the wheat. -In 1999, Doane Pet Care recalled more than a million bags of corn-based dry dog food contaminated with aflatoxin. This time, the toxin killed 25 dogs. -In 2000, Iams recalled 248,000 pounds of dry dog food distributed in 7 states due to excess DL-Methionine Amino Acid, a urinary acidifier. -In 2003, a recall was made by Petcurean “Go! Natural” pet food due to circumstantial association with some dogs suffering from liver disease; no cause was ever found. -In late...

A message from Petsmart
A good friend of mine works at Petsmart and she forwarded this email to me. I felt that Mylot was a good place to post it. So, here you go:Dear Valued PetSmart customer:As you have probably heard, Menu Foods, a national manufacturer of pet foods, issued a voluntary recall of canned and pouched wet dog and cat food manufactured in two of its facilities between December 2006 and March 2007. Again, this is a recall of a specific type of wet pet food made by Menu Foods. Other wet pet foods and all dry pet food and treats are not impacted by this recall. Menu Foods initiated the recall after receiving reports that some of its foods may be the cause of reported illnesses and kidney failure in dogs and cats. Menu Foods distributes these products to supermarkets, mass merchandisers and pet specialty stores, including PetSmart®, under a variety of brand names. Click here to see a complete list of PetSmart products that are part of the recall, as well as their respective UPCs (also referred to as the bar code). The bar code can be found on the product label; the UPC is under the series of bars. As a reminder, the items listed are the only items that PetSmart carries that...
